Writing shed puts children on right lines
A PRIMARY school has been trying to inspire the writers of the future during lockdown by building its own writing shed.
Beacon Rise Primary’s writing shed was inspired by Dylan Thomas’s creative spot overlooking the bay in Laugharne in Wales. The school has also replicated the colours and furniture.
Teacher Catherine Powell said: “It is situated in the Early Years Foundation Stage playground and is a fantastic learning resource for the children helping to embed a love of reading and writing. The children were very curious as to what would happen inside the gypsy hut as it was being built. They had a surprise visit from the school mascot ‘Beaco’ and have loved working in this space ever since.”
