Text help on offer for teens

May 25 2022

A NEW text messaging service offering advice and support to young people has received more than 70 messages just days after launching in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG).

ChatHealth enables young people, aged 11-19, to text a school nurse confidentially to ask for advice on a range of issues, from mental health and relationships, to bullying, self-harm and exam stress.

The service was launched on April 25 by the Community Children’s Health Partnership (CCHP), which is led by Kingswood-based Sirona Care & Health and partners. Within hours of going live, the service received several texts from young people asking for help or advice.

ChatHealth, which has been funded by local authorities across BNSSG, is running alongside the existing school nursing service.
