Supporting charities is goal for new dad Dan
A CHARITY football game and family fun day is being held on Saturday 24 July at 2pm.
Bitton AFC manager Dan Langdon and former Bitton player Adam Linton are each putting together a team to play against each other on the day.
The aim is to raise as much money as possible to be split between two charities: mental health charity Mind and Cancer Research UK.
Mr Langdon, from Barrs Court, said: “My partner, Kerri, suffered from breast cancer two years ago and the support she got from the charity was phenomenal.
“We’re doing this to give something back but also to do something fun for people to get involved in.”
The day is sponsored by Bristol-based contamination control flooring firm Dycem, where Mr Linton works, and will include a BBQ, bouncy castle, face painting, penalty shoot out and an evening disco.
Mr Langdon will have his hands especially full on the day, as his first child is due to be born just a few weeks beforehand. He’s hoping the little boy might grow up to be a future Bitton player.
He said: “Its going to be a bit of juggling act but hopefully it will all work out! We’re hoping Covid restrictions allow the event to go ahead and that the weather is kind to us, but regardless of weather we’ll carry on as we have covered stands.”
Gates to the site on Bath Road open at 12pm and admission costs £2 for adults, with under 18s entering for free.
