Show must go on
A CIRCUS company are looking for planning permission to keep their business open in Kingswood.
Run by the Creative Youth Network, YardArts are a performing arts company that run circus workshops, parties and events. They operate 15 caravans and mobile homes and other units on the Kingswood Foundation Estate on Britannia Road, and are looking to extend this for another two years.
In October 2017, an initial planning application for a change of use of the site was submitted to South Gloucestershire Council, which was approved for one year. Following this, approval was also given for a further two-year extension, and the latest application for two more years includes an additional eight-metre by four-metre marquee. This was erected in June and has been used as a sheltered meeting place that complies with social distancing protocol during the Covid-19 restrictions.
The planning approval currently in place permits use of the marquee on an occasional basis, but YardArts want it to be used more permanently over the next two years.
As part of the latest application, Creative Youth Network state that no complaints about the caravan park have been received from people living nearby.
The planning application reference is P20/14118/F. To find out more, visit: https://developments.southglos.gov.uk/online-applications/
