Project with a lot of heart
BEACON Rise Primary School pupils have taken part in a collaborative art pr0ject with five other schools.
Each one of nearly 2,000 pupils of Beacon Rise, Pucklechurch, Barley Close, Marshfield, Christ Church Infants and Christ Church Juniors designed, created and painted a clay heart.
Each year group painted their hearts a different colour and the hearts were collected together and sent from school to school, with an appropriate Covid isolation gap between each visit, for pupils to arrange in a way of their choosing, making a series of spectacular displays.
The idea for the project came from the schools, which are members of the Ignite Hub, reflecting on their recent memories from lockdown. Each heart represents the love the school communities have for each other, their families and people who help them, and each heart is also a tribute to NHS staff and key workers.
Teacher Catherine Powell said: “Ignite Hearts has helped us all to reflect on how 0ur current situation has impacted us and the importance of love and kindness in our community. As a Hub we are working together even at this time when we have to stay apart."
