New displays, new season

New displays, new season

THE team at Kingswood Heritage Museum have been preparing four new displays for the 2021 season. These include two centenary celebrations, featuring a major employer in the area, Fantasie Foundations, and the history of education at Brook Road (formerly Kingswood Grammar School and now King`s Oak Academy).

Further displays will celebrate the bi-centeniary of the consecration of the Holy Trinity Church at Kingswood, and the bizarre story of the death of the first person to be hanged at Bristol New Gaol, John Horwood (featured in the picture).

Lucas Ruskit Mills display

Kingswood Heritage Museum is creating a new display featuring the Lucas factory in Kingswood, and in the last edition appealed for information from anyone involved with the company.

The Museum was once again delighted with a reply from a reader. This super picture of a Lucas van was part of a postcard collection of a former employee, who worked for the company until it moved to Portbury.

If you can provide any information, photographs or artefacts please contact the Museum on 0117 960 5664 or by email: kingswoodmuseum@gmail.com
