April 2022: Kingswood Heritage Museum
Museum reopening: new exhibitions
The Museum reopens for the new season at 2pm on Saturday 2 April, and will be open until the end of November from 2 – 5pm every Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday, and from 11am to 5pm on Bank Holidays.
One of the three new temporary exhibitions this year features the Ambassador cinema, which later became the Odeon cinema and Kingswood Bowling Centre.
The photo of part of the new exhibition shows several items with special significance for Kingswood Bowling Centre. These include a bowling ball, skittle and shoes belonging to Don Perkins, who was one of the stars of “The Cavemen”, one of the best teams in the region and sponsored by Lord Bath. The shirt was provided by Geoff Cole, who was a volunteer instructor at the Bowling Centre and played for “The Undertakers”.
The Museum always welcomes new volunteers, and would especially like to hear from anyone willing to help with publicity and marketing, catering, administration and clerical support.
Two important roles are currently vacant: Assistant to the Treasurer - with IT skills and Assistant to the Administrator - with IT Skills
If you are interested in these roles, or in helping the Museum in any capacity, please contact us at email@example.com, or call us on 0117 960 5664
