April 2021: Peter's Vision

Sunglasses time!

WELL, here we are, a full year has passed and an increasing number of us, just like my youngest, are getting ready for another lockdown birthday.  At least this year he can see his school friends around his birthday, if not have a party as he’d like.  What’s interesting is that the birthday wish list was slower to arrive, and less extensive than before.  Maybe not visiting toy shops, not playing with friends toys and watching less TV adverts is having an effect!  It perhaps reflects the different way of living we’ve become accustomed to in the last year.

I had one of the most enjoyable days of the last few months this week.  The sun was out and I was able to pick our children up from school in a T-shirt and sunglasses!  Admittedly some families were still in winter coats and scarfs, but I was really quite warm in just my T-shirt.  Honestly I was!  We even got to play out in the garden into the early evening.

It got me thinking, sunglasses season must be here.  I’ve had my eye on a new pair of Ray-Ban’s for a few weeks now.  It’s going to be an oversized chunky acetate frame for me this year, with my favourite grey-green polaroid prescription lenses.  It’ll certainly make a change from the classic, and to be fair slightly conservative, Ray-Ban’s I usually wear.  My wife Jo has already chosen hers too, it’s no surprise that once again she’s ahead of the game - well ahead of me anyway  !

One of our favourite designers, Tom Davies, has not been idle during lockdown either!  If you follow his work, you’ll know that he’s continued beavering away in his London design studio.  The latest collection he’s designed is just stunning to behold and available to view in practice.

We continue to offer ready to wear Tom Davies collections, for ladies & gents too, that look stunning and are just so comfortable to wear all day.  If you’re after something just a little different or find glasses don’t usually fit or suit you then we can offer a tailor made service too, just ask for details.

Don’t forget, whether you think it’s T-shirt weather or not, we’re still here when you need us six days per week.  For eye care, advice, glasses & contact lenses just get in touch and we’ll be happy to see how we can help you.  We continue to offer COVID safe ways to choose your new glasses too!

To help us keep you all safe, we’re still asking you all to telephone first to book a time to come in.  Please call our Henleaze practice on 0117 962 2474 or our Fishponds practice on 0117 965 4434.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
