Allowing freedom during times of need
While it may not be possible to pop in physically, The Meeting Place in Kingswood High Street has set up a virtual space for people to connect.
Originally, the community drop in had been set up last June by the Freedom Church and allowed for local residents to come in for a coffee and a chat. However, with the current coronavirus pandemic meaning that we have to stay at home, The Meeting Place has set up online Zoom sessions that allows people to continue to connect over a hot beverage. It can be a lonely time and being able to talk to other local individuals can help those that are struggling during the crisis.
All you need to do is set up the Zoom app and enter the ID: 632 632 0632 in order to join The Meeting Place Zoom chat. Each session will take place during the normal meeting times: on Tuesday it is 9:30am until 12:30pm; on Wednesday it is 2pm until 4pm; Thursday is 9:30am until 12:30pm and on Saturday the time slot is 1pm until 4pm.
Alma is a local resident that enjoys going to The Meeting Place and said: “I enjoy going to The Meeting Place. It’s a good way of seeing other people. Getting together for a chat means a lot to me.”
Gordon, another Kingswood resident, added: “I’m thankful for The Meeting Place because I am no longer lonely. As I am a Kingswood boy, I appreciate they are not pushy but offer good advice when I need it. All walks of life are welcome. It’s one of the best things that has ever happened to Kingswood.”
The Freedom Church is a group of local Kingswood residents that wish to show others freedom – freedom from shame, fear, abuse and addiction through the teachings from the Bible.
