A majestic opportunity for local gymnasts
During this difficult time for all, there has been some good news for Longwell Green-based Majestic Gymnastics CIC.
Larissa Royal with Katie Iles have also been selected to take part at the TeamGym European Championships, representing Great Britain James Langley, who was also recently made the development coach, alongside Stacey Godden, TeamGym manager Katie Iles with Paige Phillips. The age of the group ranges from 12-years-old to 22-years-old
In March, three of the group’s national gymnasts, as well as two of their development coaches, have been invited to represent Great Britain at the 13th TeamGym European Championships. The championships will hopefully take place in Copenhagen, Denmark in October 2020. A Majestic spokesperson said the club “is extremely proud” as this is the highest level a TeamGym gymnast can compete.
Joining the Great Britain delegation are gymnasts Katie Iles, Larissa Royal and Paige Phillips as well as James Langley who is also the group’s development coach. They will be taking part in the international competition as part of the Senior Mixed, Junior Mixed and Junior Woman’s teams.
The selection event took place earlier in March, with the gymnasts proving their hard work on the tumble track, trampette and floor. All four were successful with their entries and will now perform with the rest of the GB team in Denmark.
TeamGym manager for Majestic Gymnastics, Stacey Godden, was the fifth Majestic member selected to represent Great Britain as unit lead for the Senior Mixed team. This is the second time Godden has been chosen as part of the delegation.
Unfortunately, the event does not come cheap and the Majestics community are looking to raise money for each of the gymnasts and coaches to take part. It will cost approximately £1,200 for each representative and if you are able to help with the cause in any way you can, you can get in contact at firstname.lastname@example.org.
